Network Consultant 1/95 to 10/96
Worked as a network consultant for BellSouth on a project which involved the re-engineering of their financial system. Managed two NetWare 4.1 servers and two HP-UX UNIX servers in an Ethernet environment. Assisted the workstation technician with support of over 200 users and a variety of desktop operating systems including Windows 3.1, Windows NT, and Windows 95. Installed and performed daily administration of a Lotus Notes server. Supported many Windows Socket applications and many protocols including IPX/SPX, TCP/IP, and PPP. Designed and implemented continuous enhancements to the system to ensure peak performance.
PROJECTS:
Migration to NetWare 4.1: Migrated both servers from NetWare
3.12 to NetWare 4.1. This allowed for better administration and
increased available disk space through file compression.
Windows NT and Microsoft SMS: Installed several Windows NT workstations
for power users and deployed Microsoft's Systems Management Server
at this site.
Faxing Solution: Installed VSI*fax on the two HP-UX boxes which
allowed inbound/outbound faxing from all desktops.
Lotus Notes Implementation: Installed Lotus Notes on both versions
of NetWare and on a UNIX box to determine the best implementation
for this site.
Automating Network: Researched and implemented software that
allows automatic installs and maintenance of our software packages.
Implemented Intranet Server: Installed two Intranet servers. One using
NetWare Web Server 2.5 and the other using Chameleon 4.6. Created all web pages and enhanced them for viewing with Netscape 3.0.

As a consultant, provided network and microcomputer support in a Token-Ring environment for the Center for Disease Control (CDC) with over 500 file servers and 7,000 users. Duties required performing tasks of both a network specialist and a hardware/software technician. Worked on the LAN team troubleshooting problems, installing servers, and providing third level support to the distributed LAN managers. Worked with technicians helping install, maintain, and repair computer/printer hardware. Hardware included a wide variety of Compaq, AST, and Dell machines and HP printers.
PROJECTS:
Implementing NetWare 4.1: Assisted in the installations of 4.1
servers, design of an NDS tree, and resolution of time synchronization
issues.
Implemented NetWare Connect: Installed NetWare Connect for a
commercial client and integrated it with pcAnywhere.
Medical Doctor Associates Norcross, GA
Network Administrator 2/94 to 9/94
Responsible for maintaining a 10BaseT Ethernet local area network running NetWare 3.11 with 70+ workstations. Performed all network administration tasks such as installing file servers, server administration, and backups. Other responsibilities included database administration for four satellite offices throughout the U.S. and end-user training/support. Also required various other skills such as installing cables and the ability to perform repairs/upgrades to workstations.
PROJECTS:
Accounting Server: Installed an additional file server for the
accounting department which improved performance and increased
security.
Redesigned Printing System: Removed the print server from the
file server and put it on a dedicated machine. Installed two
Intel NetPorts on the most heavily used printers. These improvements
brought the file server utilization down and greatly improved
printing speed.
